The picture on this TV was stunning right out of the box. After a few minor adjustments it was as close to perfect as I could imagine. It came with the SQ01 panel and it would be hard to differentiate the color depth and quality from some of the plasma sets I looked at. The TV is in a very bright room and the matte screen cuts out glare with no picture degradation. The viewing angle is very good, though we are never more than 25 to 30 degrees off center. The picture is very stable from channel to channel with no change in the back lighting that I can see, and the standard definition picture is almost HD quality when using the 16:9 picture format. It has separate settings for processing speed and anti-judder for motion blur when using the Custom view mode, unlike the majority of sets that combine both settings into one. I watch a lot of sports and really don't notice motion blur at 60hz so its certainly not an issue at 120hz. I'm not a gamer, so for my viewing habits I see no need to spend more for a 240hz option. The sound is very good for normal TV viewing. It can be connected to a home network and I have also hooked it up to my laptop using the VGA connection to watch Netflix and even that produces an acceptable SD picture. There are multiple picture settings you can use to suit just about any programming source, including watching at 120hz without the "soap opera" effect that some people find so annoying. There are 4 HDMI and 2 USB connections, plus one for headphones. There is no S video so you may need cables to hook up older external equipment. UVerse is the programming source.

One thing about settings. The first evening the picture suddenly got much darker and even though I would reset the brightness, it would get dark again once I left the menu. I spoke with Samsung and they had no idea why this was happening. It turns out this set automatically adjusts the picture to your room brightness in the Standard viewing mode, which is the factory default. You can change this in the Eco portion of the picture menu to never go below a certain brightness level or you can turn it off completely. This is not an issue when using any other viewing mode.

The last time I bought a LCD I continued to look around in case I found something better. That will not be the case this time as I am completely satisfied. Pilot shipping through Amazon was great. They delivered on time, set up the TV and swivel stand, and had everything working in 5-10 minutes.

Added note on Warranty: If you purchase an item with your Amazon Visa, or pretty much any credit card from a major bank, it extends the manufacturer's warranty 100% over the original duration (one year to two, etc.) at no cost. Amazon verified this but check with your bank if you use a non-Amazon card.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Great 2D and 3D TV
I purchased the 47LX6500 bundled with the BX580 Blue-Ray 3D DVD player and 4 pairs of the LG 3D active shutter glasses. The 2D picture display was great right out of the box. You can cutomize the display but I went back to the standard settings. The first 3D viewing was not that great. I subscribe to Comcast and there is a limited amount of 3D content On Demand. These are olded 3D formats and there is significant ghosting. The only 3D Blue-Ray DVD I could get my hands on is Monster House. The 3D was much better but there was fast action blurring. I don't believe Monster House was created in 3D just upgraded. We watched the ESPN 3D broadcast of the Ohio State game and the 3D was tremendous! I've said all that just to say that the 3D experiance depends on the quality and format of what your watching. The TV can definantly display it. My only complaint is there are no standand RCA type output jacks for audio to connect to my stero system. It does of course have home theater digital output. I'm glad I've waited on the purchase of an HDTV and that this is the package I've got.
This is barely a 3D television

My first impression was positive, the hardware is beautiful and well made, the interface too seems pretty good. The 2D picture is great and the price is very appealing.

That said... Be warned the 3D crosstalk on this television is TERRIBLE! We bought it with hopes primarily of enjoying a bunch of 3D games on our PS3 (Call of Duty: Black Ops, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5) only to be confronted with staggering crosstalk and ghosting. It was bad enough that my wife asked "Is the TV broken?" I find that the 3D crosstalk makes playing some games dizzying, annoying and fatiguing. In particular scenes with black on a bright (usually white) background will have your eyes crossing and head aching. For the record, we've tried with both 1.3x and 1.4 HDMI cables to no avail.

Furthermore after viewing 3D content on the PS3 and then returning to the XMB we'd be in a very messed up state where the LG UI was corrupted and remained so until another 3D movie was played. Really screwy stuff. Hopefully we'll get a firmware update on the PS3 or LG end soon?

Note: Don't buy from Adorama unless you are VERY sure you are going to love your TV. Their return policy is "No Hassle" only in as far as it's no hassle for them since they will not accept returns.
good 2D TV, not good 3D TV
The TV gives very good pictures for 2D content. I need to play with the settings to find a good configuration. The Eco sensor function is actually pretty annoying, and I disable it for all input sources.

The 3D effect is disappointing. There is significant leaking from one eye to the other, resulting in a blurry 3D effect, and probably a headache if you watch it for an extended period of time.

How it Works
Our eyes are spaced apart from each other, which means our left and right retinas see objects at slightly different angles. In real life, the brain merges these two images into a single three-dimensional image. To recreate this experience of depth on television, a 3D TV will display two separate but overlapping images of the same scene simultaneously, and at slightly different angles as well. One image is intended for the left eye, the other for the right. A pair of Active Glasses helps viewers perceive the two 2D images as one 3D image.

WOW. Amazing LED set!!
First off I want to be clear about the kind of review this is intended to be. I am not a profession TV rater. I am not a videophile. I am a regular Joe and I am reviewing this for the regular Joe who is thinking about spending more than usual on a good quality television. During the next few months, I'm sure you can find a more professional review from the usual places... But for now, this is my impressions.

CORNER LIGHT: After reading many reviews on last years B8000 and this year's C7000, I was worried about the light that emits from the corners. I've seen displays of last year's B8000 and this year's C7000 and have VERY easily seen what people are talking about. I took a big gamble in purchasing this TV before I read if people were having issues with this C8000. So let me say... After watching this TV for about 5 hours per day for 3 days... I have NOT seen the light coming from the edges as seen on other sets. And believe me I've been looking. I tried to find it watching the HD feed on Time Warner Cable, Blu-ray's from the PS3, Blu-Ray's from the Samsung 3D Blu-Ray player, watching at night, during the day... Nothing. I just do not see it!

LOOKS: This TV looks just amazing. It has a VERY dark black screen. It looks as beautiful turned off as it does on. I was nervous about the brush metal look, but it actually looks very nice and compliments the new chromed four-legged stand.

PICTURE: The picture clarity looks incredible. It's as if I'm discovering HD for the first time. This set replaces a Samsung DLP set, so of course this is a vast improvement. Having said that, I have a newer plasma in the bedroom and this set looks much better than that. As with all new LED sets with 240 Hz, there is a bit of the Spanish Soap Opera/Home Video look to it. Some people really like this, some people don't. I really like it. For those of you that don't, you can always turn this feature down or off. To me this makes the picture look very clear and it makes it stand out from the other sets.

3D: Along with this TV I purchased the Samsung 3D Bluray player so I can get the 3D startup kit for free. Turning the 3D feature on and connecting the glasses was easy. The intro to Monsters v. Aliens was very cool. The opening scene in outer space looked incredible. The ball tied to a paddle part was funny and kinda made me jump a little. I haven't spent too much time with 3D but I did notice that there were some scenes in the movie that had a double image while wearing the glasses. It doesn't happen a lot, but it is noticeable. You can see this right away during the church scene at the beginning of the movie. It was a little annoying. I'm hoping that this is the kind of stuff that gets ironed out with a firmwear update, or as more content is released, they learn to fix it.

OnlineTV: This is also a very new area for me. I never understood the need for me to want apps on my TV... But its actually kina cool. I've tried a few apps but my favorite by far is the Pandora app. I'm a big fan of Pandora and this app I actually like better on my TV than online or the iPhone. The only thing I hate is that Samsung did not have Wifi built in. I think pricing this set at the $3000+ mark should be enough to include it with the set and not require me to drop another $80 for the USB adapter. I just hardwired it, but that's another wire I don't like dealing with.

USB: I wanted to mention that this set allows you to connect a USB external hard drive and play music, photo's and movies directly from the HDD. I have a Western Digital 320GB Passport filled with movies and music, and I was able to navigate the files structure in the drive using the remote quite easily. And it played all the files formats I threw at it.

Overall I am very satisfied with the UN55C8000. Even with the few CONS, this set to this average Joe is a definite 5 star! As I spend more time with the set, I'll be sure to update this review if I find something worth mentioning.

Good First Step into Full HD 3D, But Not Perfect
Samsung's UN55C8000 LED TV (LED backlit LCD) represents a good first step in full HD 3D technology, but it's definitely not without its flaws.

Drawbacks:

* High price
* Problems handling 24 frame/second material (movies)
* Mixed results with upconversion of standard def material to HD
* Some crosstalk on native and upconverted 3D content
* Some lighting uniformity issues (compared to best plasma and local-dimming sets)

Pros:

* Nice black levels and shadow detail for a super-thin (under 1-inch) edge-lit LED set
* Bright, accurate colors
* Energy efficient
* Excellent 3D effect with native 3D content
* Decent 3D upconversion of 2D content (varies based on content)
* Extremely robust selection of IPTV content (web-based widgets, audio and video streaming)

As for price, yes this is one of the first full HD 3D TVs on the market, so you can expect to pay a premium, but $3500 (list) is a lot to pay for a 55-inch TV. Panasonic's comparably sized and featured 54-inch 3D VT25 plasma lists for $500 less. Even Samsung's own 3D-capable 46-inch LCD set (standard CCFL backlighting), the LN46C750 sells for about half the price of this LED-lit model. At $1799 list, the 46-inch 3D LCD is only slightly more expensive than comparably sized, comparably featured 2D models.

For SD upconversion, the C8000 does well with the standard "jaggies" tests and 2:3 cadence detection in its "Auto 1" mode, but it falls apart with mixed content (video titles on a film background), creating combing/tearing artifacts on the screen unless you go out of your way to change the mode setting to "Auto 2" mode. A good video processor should be able to accomodate both types of content without the user having to go deep into the set-up menus.

The C8000's 3D feature is both a pro and a con. On native 3D content, such as the "Monster Vs. Aliens" on Blu-ray 3D as well as some test patterns we had on a USB stick, the set's illusion of depth and dimensionality is impressive -- as good if not better than the 3D effect seen in most theaters. And we found that it maintained the 3D effect even from 25 feet away and from well off-axis (watching TV from the side of the room, instead of directly in front of it). Yes, there are times when you can get some crosstalk (left eye image visible by the right eye, which leads to ghosting), but this is fairly sporadic and generally isn't so obtrusive as to minimize one's enjoyment of the movie. Samsung added a setting in the 1016.0 firmware that allows you to adjust the 3D mode to minimize crosstalk and this does help, though even with the feature enabled, there can still be some crosstalk at times. Also, Samsung offers a real-time 2D to 3D conversion feature which is more effective than we expected and can give you some additional depth and 3D qualities on existing content. It's particularly effective on vector-based animation and games, but even on theatrical titles such as "Star Trek" and "Avatar" on 2D Blu-ray Disc, certain scenes do take on a pleasant (though mild) sense of depth.

Back in 2D mode, we did notice one unexpected issue with the C8000's handling of 24p content (24 frames/second) from standard Blu-ray Discs. Previous Samsung models had the ability to apply motion interpolation (Samsung's "Auto Motion Plus" feature) for video-based content independently from film content. The separate settings for "Judder Reduction" (film) and "Blur Reduction" (video) worked independently. This allows the user to apply motion interpolation to video sources, like live sports and concert videos, minimizing screen blur and smooting out the motion, while still presenting movies in a native 24p mode that preserves that "filmic feel" that many movie-lovers prefer. In the C8000 model, even with Judder Reduction OFF (set to 0) in "Custom" mode, there is still some motion interpolation going on, which causes movies to look a little more like video (called by some the "soap opera effect"). Hopefully this is a problem that can be fixed via firmware but as of the time of this review, that is not yet available. [update: this issue has been confirmed by Samsung QA and engineering]

As an edge-lit set, there are also some issues with picture uniformity. When you're lighting up an entire set with just a string of LED lights along the edges, there's only so far that a diffusor panel can go to get a nice uniform backlight. Samsung has improved this over last year's edge-lit models, through the use of a technique called "Precision Dimming." With Precision Dimming, areas of the lighting assembly can be turned off or dimmed independently of other areas. So instead of having one big bright backlight, with only the LCD shutters to provide darkness, the TV can selectively dim parts of the screen (like the top and bottom letterbox areas of 2.35:1 and 2.4:1 movies). This leads to less hot-spotting around the edges, and better overall black levels. It's not quite as effective as full local dimming with a "full array" LED backlight, but it's better than having no local dimming technology. Combined with the 2010 improvements in the LCD panel itself, the uniformity and black level performance of the new sets is getting closer to a plasma or full array LED/LCD set with local dimming. Next year, they'll probably get even better.

Color reproduction of the C8000 is excellent, with saturation near the performance of the best plasmas (and this color and grey scale accuracy holds up even in the dimmer 3D mode), so no real complaints there, but the colors don't quite "pop" as much as they do on local dimming LED and plasma sets as the level of the blacks is not quite as deep as those other technologies.

In terms of the internet streaming and IPTV content, again, no complaints here: with VUDU, Blockbuster VOD, Netflix streaming, Pandora internet radio, and Yahoo widgets, etc., as well as DLNA compatibility, the C8000 TV brings a wealth of content to your TV from your home network and from the internet at large. One might imagine that over time these services will also be helpful in providing native 3D content which for now is extremely hard to come by.

Overall, there is a lot to like about the C8000, but it does suffer from a few first generation issues. If the high price and relatively minor issues with 2D upconversion and occasional 3D crosstalk don't worry you too much, then it's definitely worth a look. But there's also something to be said for waiting to see what they come up with next year when more content is available and some of these early issues have been worked out. It's also possible that some of these issues may be improved with firmware updates, so early adopters may still benefit from enhancements as time goes on.

Hands down best bang for the buck!
Let me start by saying that I do own this TV, and it is replacing the c7000 model. About a month ago I walked into a local retailer and asked when the 3D sets were coming out, to my surprise they had just received the first shipment of C7000 3D ready sets from Samsung. After spending about a half an hour checking out the TV, and asking a lot of questions I decided to take the plunge and purchase the TV, 3D Blu-Ray player, and starter kit. My intentions were not to buy a new set that day, but it was getting to be time to upgrade anyway so I wanted to have something with some "wow factor" for a while. A friend and I loaded up the set and got the connections made, cracked a couple of beers and checked out my new investment. There were mixed reactions to say the least. Once the novelty of the 3D wears off you can be really critical of that model. Huge amount of "crosstalk" on the picture, and cloudy bright spots with "flashlighting" in the bottom two corners. Very disappointing. I went back to the store to look at the display model again and did not see a fraction of the issues that my set was showing. The salesperson said that the Panasonic Plasma should be coming in any day and they expected it to be light years ahead of the Samsung in picture quality, black level, no crosstalk, etc.

After a week or so I went in to see the Panasonic that was now also on display only to see the same issues with crosstalk in 3D. The 2D experience on the Panasonic was quite good but at the time the only size available was 50", and I was replacing a 62" set and really didn't want to make that drastic of a change. So on bright pictures the Samsung was absolutely stunning! In a dark room while watching a dark movie the picture was just unacceptable for a TV in this price range. At this point I figured that I would return the TV, and wait for one of the larger Panasonic's to hit the stores.

Then I saw that the C8000 was being released earlier than expected, and had new technology called Pinpoint Dimming. After doing quite a bit of reading reviews, and others' experience with the Samsung locally dimmed set's I decided to give Samsung another chance before going to Plasma. Amazon had the TV for sale before my local retailer so I placed the order and crossed my fingers that I would not be returning two new TV's instead of one. Well let me wrap this up by saying that I am sooooo glad that I made this choice! The C8000 is absolutely stunning in aesthetic quality, and is the best picture quality I have probably ever seen! Dare I say it is even better than the 8500 from last year that gets such great reviews. There is no flashlighting, the black levels are completely pitch black, and as another reviewer already stated, once you get the picture dialed in the way you like it there really is no comparison. Everyone that sees the TV in my house has to stop and watch for a while, in fact, the downside to owning it is that I can't get people to go home!

Now with that being said, there are some minor observations that would be different in a perfect world. If you put this set in a large room and watch it from a large angle you will lose some of the black levels, and for the price it really should have wifi built in. Also, in the menu's it seems that some settings should be grouped together under the headings, so you have to jump around in the menu's a bit to get your set dialed in, but this is typically not something you will be doing all the time. Other than that I really can't see a problem with it. When considering the C7000 or C8000 do yourself a favor and choose the latter. Even if this set was hundreds of dollars more it would be worth it. This one will be hard to beat.

UPDATE: After having the TV for about a week it started having some technical issues like switching sources randomly, and changing the picture settings for no reason. Samsung tech support was very good and we thought initially the problems were being caused by the Logitech remote I use, however after increased tech issues the TV had to be returned. Being that the picture quality is so exceptional on this set I have already replaced it with another one of the same model purchased at retail (for much less money actually) and am keeping my fingers crossed that this one does not have any technical issues. I am leaving my review at five stars simply because every so often you can get a bum product, or something could have happened during shipping, but have to say that Samsung, and Amazon have been really great about taking care of me on this, and the picture quality really is very good. Reading the other reviews I am surprised that anyone would not give this a five star rating. When replacing my C8000 I checked out one of the last B8500's still available, and side by side I have to say that not only me, but most people in the store were more impressed with the C8000. By the way, I have owned several products that C-net gave very high ratings that I had no success with, and vice versa, so I really think it comes down to your own expectations on a purchase like this.

Better than 2009's Samsung edge lit LED LCD's...just not enough to eliminate a few issues/flaws
I've owned this television for a few weeks now, and I've been putting it through a battery of tests using a variety of different sources and room lighting conditions. To get right to the point, I am returning it -- it will be picked up this week -- and waiting for either the UNC8000 precision dimming edge lit led set, or perhaps either the XBR-HX900 or XBR-LX900 from Sony. The C7000 is a good TV. It compares favorably -- if not signficantly so -- to any of the edge lit led lcd's that Samsung released in 2009. However, it doesn't hold a candle to the UNB8500 that was released late in 2009. It is also outperformed by Vizio's latest (552), the Sony XBR 8, and even LG's LH 90 gives it a run for it's money and outperforms it in a few important areas. Essentially the performance of the C7000 is either matched or exceeded by multiple televisions that cost significantly less. If you are not a videophile and do not concentrate on picture performance in a completely darkened room, I'm sure this television will suit you just fine. However, if you are a videophile and/or picture performance in a completely darkened room and accurate reproduction of theater film viewing is very important to you, this television is not for you. This TV exhibits many of the same problems that plagued Samsung's 2009 series of edge lit led's -- namely, a lot of light shining through from the corners, top and bottom, and sides of the picture while viewing in a darkened room -- and does not perform the way you would hope for a television that costs this much. Samsung did improve upon the fluctuating back light problems of last years edge lit led's. This television does not have a fluctuating back light problem at all. However, I must come back to the issue of light shining through from the edges of the screen. It's a big concern for anybody who wants to reproduce a natural theater experience and view films the way they were meant to be seen. You simply cannot recreate that experience with this television. When you view a film -- or any other content -- in a completely darkened room, it is impossible not to notice the light shining in from the edges. That is a huge problem for a lot of us. I will say that when you are viewing a film in a bright room, this television is an outstanding performer. It is also an excellent performer for viewing sporting events, animated features, and other lively bright content in a brightly lit room. Of course, most of us do not wish to pay $3,300 to only be completely happy with our televisions when we are watching them in a brightly lit room. The light shining in from the edges also creates the potential to create a lot of problems with 3D viewing once we have sufficient 3D content available. Imagine trying to immerse yourself in a 3D viewing experience and not be able to focus on the 3D atmosphere due to the fact that there is light shining into the viewing area. I just don't see it working. It seems that it would be a major obstacle in viewing 3D content. Imagine going to see Avatar in 3D or IMAX 3D and having light shining into all of the edges of the film. There's just no way that it wouldn't distract you and take away from your viewing experience. I foresee this being a huge problem for 3D viewing once we have the content. I will discuss some of the positives of this television because I don't want anyone to think it's a bad television. I would have really given it 2.5 starts out of 5 but Amazon doesn't allow for a half star so I went with 3 because the positives probably do outweigh the negatives on this TV. The color accuracy is what we have all came to expect from Samsung, which is to say it's flawless. The black level is outstanding -- if not up to par with the local dimming led sets such as the 8500 and the XBR8, or the Pioneer Kuro 151 plasma -- and does not have the fluctuating backlight problem. The black level is definitely better than last years edge lit led sets. The video processing and motion resolution is beyond reproach. It appears that this particular feature is probably comparable the 8500, which is the only lcd in history to be able to resolve all 1080 moving lines. It will be interesting to see if this television can do that once the reviews come out and the video processing has been tested. This television handles 24fps content perfectly, and reproduces the proper cadence of film based content. It is definitely a good television, it just has some major flaws, and is outperformed by a few sets that cost over $1,000 less. The potential for 3D viewing problems definitely exists, and Samsung needs to find a way to cure the problem of having light shine in from the edges of the screen.

GREAT TV WITH AN ISSUE
This TV is great. It looks really sleek and has outstanding features. One major problem, I guess Samsung did not learn from last year that it is not okay to have LED backlighting that creates clouds on the screen. I owned last year's model and during dark scenes I could see what can be described as projector type lighting within the screen. The LEDs give off white light that is visible on the screen during dark scenes. Well this TV has the same issue but the lighting looks more visible than on my last year's model. I don't think that this is acceptable for a television that retails for $3299 and that is from a company such as Samsung.

I was watching a space movie and my friend could not understand why there were white clouds on the screen. I had to play along since I could not bring myself to say that there were not clouds but the backlighting in the television.

I am going to keep it because not many televisions out there can produce the same quality picture. This television does provide great picture quality as long as you get over the backlighting issues. I actually wish the TV was a little thicker since it is too fragile due to how thin it is. I have to say that Amazon is awesome. The order was very well managed.

My two cents about 3D

I was really excited about getting my 3D glasses and C6900 blu ray player today. I have to say that I am now even more disappointed with Samsung's 3D technology than with the edge lid technology that they are using. I sat on my couch wearing the dorky 3D glasses for about 20 minutes before I could not stand them anymore. Look, 3D is a gimmick and it looks like they got me. I can't believe that I wasted my money on this stuff. The picture in 3D did look better but not enough to get me to sit on my couch for two hours wearing some uncomfortable stupid glasses. Maybe this is why they did not have the glasses available to consumers at launch. I really wish that I would have ordered the B8500 when it was truly available.

In addition, the flashlighting screen issues on my C7000 looked even worse in 3D.

HDMI 1.4 is supported
For those looking for this bit of information, I have the TV and it is hdmi 1.4, Amazon has it wrong in the Description and you can even find this information in the Product documentation if you don't want to take my word for it. This TV also can upgrade a 2D hdmi 1.3 signal to 3D. The cloudy lighting issue some see with the Edge-lighting technology reported on the 2009 product has been greatly improved for 2010 and I can't really say I even noticed it a in a black scene. Folks need to stop using past products to review current products, this is 2010 and not 2009. Outside of that, performance wise you will be blown away and will feel less pain knowing you just spent your child's college fund.

Question on Settings for best viewing Hi, Got my Samsung a950 recently, and its an exceptional TV. Fantastic picture and sound. Had a question on the settings...the Movie mode is the worst. Too dark. The Dynamic is too bright and colors too saturated. I tried to lower the backlight and contrast for Dynamic, but still didn't feel right. The Standard seems to be the best. Can someone let me know what ideal settings they use for Standard settings (backlight, contrast, brightness etc.), and also the settings they use for Detail settings and Picture settings ? Thanks.
Samsung LN55A950 Update: My first LN55A950 at the end of the 30 day return period started having issues with the LED lighting. It came in the form of 4" by 8" rectangular shapes on the screen with varying shades of color ranging from dark black to bright yellow. Each rectangle was showing independent color than the adjacent rectangle. It appears the back light is set up in quadrants of 64 throughout the 55" display. Needless to say, I took it back and got a replacement. For the moment, it appears to be functioning correctly. I will update as necessary. I am starting to get a little concerned about the QAing of the samsungs. The new TV has the later software revision loaded. 1003.0 version I have compared this TV side by side in my viewing environment with the following products: Sony 52" W4100 (2 different sets) Song 52" XBR6 Samsung 52" 750 (2 different sets) Samsung 52" 850 Samsung 58 550 plasma My findings were these: Clouding: I was unable to find a TV that didn't suffer from some degree of "Mura" or clouding. All sets had it expect for the 950 and the plasma. I found during the testing that the sole samsung 850 tested the worst of the lot ( clouding evident in both back panels, even showing some of the worst areas during well lit content) and the second Sony W4100 to have the least clouding (had I not had the 950 I would have kept this example because while clouding was present, I could have lived with it) but it was evident in ALL TVs save the plasma and 950. Color: I would say the Sony probable rendered the truest picture color but found that the samsungs vivid color presentation was the most pleasing to my eye. Side by side the 750 and 850 compared favorable to the 950. It's hard to forget that you can own at least two of the lower series of samsungs for the price of the 950. Blooming: It is present but my "skills" at calibration allowed me to mitigate the worst effects of it. This is not a deal breaker. Black: While light pumping can be seen at times, if you let go and watch the movie it is barely noticeable. I would like to point out that when you see black, it is black. LED back lighting is the way. Compared to the plasma (albeit a low end PN58A550 plasma)It rendered better blacks than THIS plasma. I was able to pick this TV up for $3500 and really didn't want to suffer the "buyers remorse." So after much comparing of various makes and models I can say clearly that if the money doesn't bother you...then this TV is most certainly a keeper and will stay contemporary for many years to come. Vizio has come out with their version of a 55" LCD TV the 55" vf550xvtia. I brought this one into the home to compare against the Samsung, here are my observations: The color was surprisingly good. It started out a little over driven but Vizio provides enough ability to manipulate the screen that in no time I was able to get a fine viewing picture. Honestly, I would have to say that it compared very favorable to the Sony. However, the samsung, just has a more pleasing viewing image. Dejudder: The vizio weakness came in the dejudder. It didn't do a good job handling any fast scenes. The Ironman Blu-rayer disc is the one I used to test all the TVs. During Ironman's confrontation with the air force jets the structure of the aircraft are never symmetrical unlike the samsung which renders a perfect picture and the scene plays flawlessly. Maybe the Back lit LED 240hz version of this TV will correct this issue, but with this current offering, the samsung 950 is easily the winner. Plasma's days are numbered and this TV is the messenger.
Visibly better than Samsung LN46A650 We bought the Samsung LN55A950 and the LN46A650 at the same time - one for the family room and the other for the bedroom. Side-by-side, the difference is very noticeable. Even though I set the image parameters the same on both sets, the colors on the 950 are definitely more vivid. You need not be a videophile to see the difference. Even when I view the 650 by itself in our bedroom, I can tell the subtle difference. It's still a great picture, but it just lacks the "pop" of the 950. Also, when viewing the two sets in total darkness but still powered-up and in the absence of any video signal, the 650 screen is a dark navy or gray, while the 950 is nearly (but not entirely) invisible. Granted, no one ever watches a blank screen in the dark - but there really is a difference in the black levels between these sets. Both sets have the "glossy" screen, but to my delight and great relief, they pose absolutely no problem whatsoever. Both our sets are located in rooms with windows and overhead lighting. Can I see any reflections? Sure, if you look hard, you can see them - as I could on my old CRT TV. Before I turned-on the sets, my wife commented on the reflections, but no one has ever commented about reflections when the set is on. As other reviewers have noted for the 650, the 950 also takes 3-4 seconds to pick-up the video signal on start-up. Images do not instantaneously appear as soon as you turn-on the set. This is a very minor issue. I looked over the games, recipes, and other content that you can access with the 950. I actually found a good recipe for beef kabobs, but the material is mostly forgettable and this content would not be a deciding factor in my purchase. I paid $4200 for the 55" 950 and $1600 for the 46" 650. Is it worth the difference? Of course, the screen sizes are quite different, but if I were to do it again, adjusting for the different sizes, would I pay $1000 - $1500 more for the better picture? Hmmm, that's a tough one. If you can afford it, I would go for the 950. The 950 made our holiday houseguests all wonder what was so different between our HDTV setup and theirs. That satisfaction is certainly worth something. However, I would definitely be very happy with the 650 and if I had not seen the 950 first, I would not be dissatisfied or wanting in the least.

Poor Sound Quality
I just returned this TV after one week of frustration. The picture was excellent, however the sound quality was poor at best. There were multiple sound settings from Standard to Movies, etc as well as a 4 band equalizer to adjust the sound. Regardless of what setting we chose, the sound always sounded like it was coming from inside a tin can. Very hollow and cheap sound.

Perfect for our bedroom
This is a great TV and the sound is good (if you want great sound just add some high quality speakers or home theatre system) but I think it is good. Perfect size for our bedroom (sit about 6 to 8 feet away) good viewing at any angle. I did alot of research so do not let negative reviews scare you away. It is great with a good price to match. Walmart, Target, Bestbuy..etc have it for $100 more.

Poor Customer Service TV had good picture but did not come with all the hardware (to attach TV to Base Stand). I contacted customer service to have it provided but after 2 weeks, it had not come. I again contacted customer service and was told that their policy was that they had 10 - 14 days to respond to my request. I explained that I could not use the TV until I had the hardware. They did not seem to be concerned with customer service or satisfaction. I returned the TV several days later frustrated not with the TV but with the poor level of customer service.
Great TV for me but I Need a Wall Mount I love the TV is perfect for a small room. Yet the room requires this TV be mounted on a wall. The Universal Mounts I purchased do not fit. The holes on the back of the TV would never fit the small Universal Mounts... I called Samsung and found that they do not have or know of a mount that fits this small TV. Yikes, Don't know what to do... But, it is a great TV! So clear.
Good TV Good TV, great picture quality. Bought the 450 model first and returned it for the 650 due to small price difference. Get plenty of HD channels from the built in tuner. Only complaints are the stand does not swivel or tilt, and the remote control looks like a child toy. Other than that TV is great. Sound and picture quality adequate for a bedroom or kitchen. If this is going to be your tv for a living room, consider buying a new house before you buy this tv.

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Nice picture quality, very mediocre sound but and mid to low volumes there is a distinct background buzz eminating from the display. You buzz so you must go back. I don't know why I keep trying Samsung TVs, if its not one thing it something else, dont ask me about my other Big Samsung HDTV. Perhaps this time I will learn.

It took 4 faxes of my invoice to establish proof of purchase. Unless you give Samsung the exact time your fax was sent, they can't find it. The replacement unit was UPS'd to the wrong location. A month has passed, and we have yet to see a working TV.
CAUTION with ReCertified Remanufactured Remote was NOT included in my purchase. (also no CD or manual) Samsung and vendor refused to fix this problem. it is NOT useable as a TV without the Remote. Therefore be careful, do NOT purchase for use as a TV if you are buying recertified.

Poor Sounds The TV has a great picture, but the sound is almost unusable. Had to buy speakers for computer and hook them up using the head phone connection. We have found the same problem with all Samsung flat screen LCD TV's.
One of the only small HD sets with near 1080P resolution! This TV beats any small HDTV by ANY brand, INCLUDING the small Sony sets! Beautiful, detailed picture! No guesswork in programming the channels! The T200HD is THE reference standard in small HDTVs! It has two HDMI inputs so you can add both a cable box AND an Blu Ray player if needed!
Excellent television, except sound This appears to be a well constructed, full featured unit. Picture quality is outstanding, and connection capability is very flexible. I have purchased two of these units. However, the audio quality is horrible, sounding like a tinny 50's era transistor radio. For any decent audio you'll need to connect to an external audio system.

Samsung 19" LCD Samsung LN19A450 19" LCD HDTV I bought the tv because of all of the good reviews. It had an excellent picture but I found that it automatically shut off after 10 minutes of operation. I then did a search of "Samsung lcd tv problems" and found numerous complaints for the same problem with all sizes of their tvs. Most of the complaints said that Samsung didn't acknowledge that their tvs had this problem. Rather than mess with getting another I sent it back. (Amazon has a great return policy)
Awesome Light weight, crisp color, easy set-up. Purchased this unit, for our motorhome, after trying the "converter box" for a while with our original TV; there is a day/night difference. I appreciate the FAST delivery as well.
Great bathroom/kitchen tv This is the first time I bought expensive electronics from Amazon. I was worried about damage in the shipment, but was pleasantly surprised how well packaged the item was. UPS delivery left it near my garage door. As for the TV, it was an early valentine's day/birthday present for my wife. She gets her dose of morning news in her dressing area before work. This set replaced an old 9" CRT that was not digital capable. Hooked this Samsung up to our rooftop antenna and voila! Excellent HD picture quality, excellent sound, and progammable on/off are a bonus. It now serves as her de facto alarm clock. The only reason I did not give it five stars is purely aesthetic. If someone is going to buy a white TV, you would think that Samsung would include a white power cord rather than the black one that comes with the set. The included remote is white so....someone didn't sufficiently think through the product packaging. Overall, a great HDTV, a decent value through Amazon. I would buy it again, and am now interested in looking at the larger Samsung LCD sets. Great picture!

Good monitor/TV combo for the money This monitor is excellent for what it is. It's a good monitor and a decent HDTV at a very good price. There are some better monitors out there - even in this price range. There are much better TVs, but they cost more. But if you need a good monitor that is also a decent HDTV, this is your best option by far. Yes, the body and stand are a bit flimsy. There are no composite or S-video inputs - so you cannot use it to view VHS or mini-DV tapes. I have an old TV that I use for that. The power button does not really work; you have to use the remote. It's not as bright as LCD TVs. But none of that matters much to me. This monitor works great as a computer monitor, and it's fine as a HDTV. I don't really notice a different between it and the higher end 22" LCD TVs in stores. I am sure that there is a difference, but I don't care enough about the TV function to notice. The only thing that I really miss on this monitor is PiP (Picture in Picture). My old 17" Samsung LCD has that. It is really nice that the monitor comes with both analog and digital computer cables; nice touch. My 17" Samsung is 5+ years old now and works like new. I hope that this Samsung is just as reliable. Note - it's a matte screen - very different from the glossy screen on my iMac. It's not bad - just different.
I love this TV I got the best price possible from Amazon. I use it as a TV and a computer monitor, and I love it. It looks great (both physical appearance & picture). I am able to pick up a few HD stations over the air with no antenna at all & I live 60 miles from them. One feature I would like to see is PIP so that you can work & watch TV at the same time. It is plenty big to do that, but it has no such feature. Also, the inputs are rather limited, but they suffice for my needs at this point. I was afraid that the PC would look grainy when it got this big, but it looks great. This is also probably due to the graphics card, but mine looks amazing. The other feature that I would like to see is a swivel base to make it easier to view from other parts of the room, but this is an extremely minor inconvenience.

I saw a news channel state that these new LCD tv's consume 2 to 3 times more electricity than regular tube or rear projection tv's. That is absolutely rediculous. The USB Wiselink is awesome except that it does not allow me to play .avi .mpg. .wmv video files. I can only slideshow pictures and thats it. If the USB wiselink could play movie clips. I could lod up a memory stick USB with some clips I shot with my family digital camera or camcorder easily and play them on the TV. This would be a great feature. Besides the bad power consumption and low function abilities of the tv. I think it has a great picture and the slim look of the tv is very cool!

Great deal This is a great tv. I haven't figured out all the features yet, but I'm sure I will eventually.
Nice Tv I bought this from the amazon from the holiday voting thing($600). The tv is very nice, feels solid, base is sturdy. The HD tv stations look great, blu-ray disks look amazing. PS3 Runs fine on it, no tearing or anything. Only negative I would say is the remote it comes with it has a very short distance, but that can be easily solved by getting a different remote! - No big deal. If you're not sure, you shouldn't be disappointed with this tv, and I have pretty high standards when it comes to electronics.
A great HDTV The Samsung 46LNA550 is an excellent HDTV. I can't get over how good the picture is. It is the best I've seen right out of the box. I bought this set as a present for my dad. The cable people would not be out for a few days, so I hooked up a cheap pair of rabbit ears (in NYC) and could not believe the vibrance, clarity, detail of the picture. I thought the picture with the antenna looked better than with cable (but that's comparing free with $$$). On the weak side-- the sound could be better. If you are going to take advantage of a TV this size, you must get surround sound of some sort to really enjoy movies. I ordered this from Amazon, and free White Glove Service was included. My dad was very pleased. Now I just may have to treat myself to one. I know there are other series, the 650, 750, etc., and newer TVs with 120 Hz, while this is 60 Hz., but it has all that is needed, and think it is great for fast moving sports with virtually no motion blur. Highly recommended.

Best 1080P TV on the market I looked and did research for months to find the best quality 37" 1080P LCD TV and everything points to this model. After using this TV in my home office for 2 months I can verify all the positive reviews on this unit. Sound is excellent if you room is not your main living room. Picture is crystal clear and all of my guest say the same thing " Holy $#$ the picture is amazing" Remote is a bit large and kind of useless if you have a cable box or direct TV like i do. Mount this unit on the wall in a spare room not your main room and you will be completely satisfied. also purchase a protection plan because this baby gets hot. The 5 year plan plus TV shipped was under $1,000 I have a Hitachi 60",Sony 55" & 22" HP LCds and this Samsung blows them all away.
Love it. We have it for about a month now. I went to a local electronic store determined to buy a Sony m-series 37", but after standing in front of the array of TV's, this one won my heart. Excellent picture quality. White is bright and pure, color has nice contrast, black is deep. The piano-black framing was simple, classic and beautiful. The remote has good size and useful buttons, easy to use config, and easy to hold. The pause between channel swiching is acceptable (I think Sony takes half a second too long, which is the biggest issue I have with Sony.). Everyone in my family loves this TV. At the time I bought it, Amazon's price was significantly lower than any of the local store on-sale prices. It took about a week to arrive my home in southern CA. I thought this was an excellent buy.

TV Doesn't Work, No Response From Customer Service The TV hasn't worked since it was delivered. Several attempts by local Samsung repair shop have been unsuccessful. Neither Etronics nor Amazon are working to repair the situation. This has been a totally disappointing experience.
I recommend it! Great picure, easy set up! Came well boxed with no delivery problems. Price was lowest found.
Happy with purchase I have owned this TV for several months now, and I am still absolutely thrilled with the picture. We have Direct TV's HD receiver, and it helps provide an outstanding picture. Fortunately, we also got the Direct TV service around the same time, so the technician installed everything for us. The only problem with the TV is the sound. Occasionally it doesn't sound quite right. I would suggest getting independent speakers because the TV's speakers are not reliable. All in all, though, I am very happy with the purchase.

Great Satisfaction Very satisfied with the LCD TV. Picture is great as is the sound. It also looks good in the room where it is placed.
Amazing Picture I spent about 3 weeks shopping and researching before I bought this TV. I narrowed it down to the Samsung and the Sony Bravia "W" series, but after watching the two side by side at a store decided I liked the Samsung picture better. I've now had the 630 for two weeks, and it's terrific. Very easy to set up -- it takes a couple of days with the remote to figure everything out but it's all intuitive so you eventually get there. The picture is fantastic. At first, my wife complained that it could be too good, making some shows look overly detailed and thus artificial, but this problem went away when I figured out that you can change the picture on the remote from "cool" to "warm." Overall I've been extremely pleased with the picture -- the HD is fantastic and regular TV also looks better. Watching basketball in particular is a whole new experience. The sound quality is good, but you'll need to add a sound system for it to match the picture quality. My only complaint is that sometimes I need to re punch in the input source on the remote after I turn it on (i.e., from TV to satellite), which only takes a second but is irritating nonetheless. Overall, though, I highly recommend this set.
great purchase! I chose this LCD flat screen by researching Consumer Reports and then watching the holiday sales for the best price. Amazon.com had the best price I saw for this particular Samsung model. There were lower prices on other flat screens, but the quality of the picture and ease of use of this one make it worth paying a little more. Vann's was the store that it was actually shipped from and it arrived in perfect condition, as well as within the date range that they gave me at the time of purchase. Beats having to drive to the store,deal with sales people, then load and unload your car. I would definitely purchase electronics through Amazon.com again. So easy!

Great product, AWFUL shipping So far, I love the TV. The only complaint that I have is that Amazon shipped it via CEVA, which completely dropped the ball on delivery. It made me wish more than anything that I just bought the TV locally, even if it was more expensive. CEVA scheduled to deliver the TV on 3 separate days before they managed to get the TV to my house. Of course, on the first and second days, they waited until 1-2 hours *after* the 4 hour delivery window before notifying me that they weren't going to be coming. On the 3rd day, they delivered the TV only an hour after the delivery window. The 1st day, they claimed they had truck problems. The 2nd day, they claimed a tree fell on their truck. The 3rd day, they explained their lateness as a simple miscalculation. Of course, CEVA couldn't give me any information when I called them during and after the shipping window ended. "Hi, the delivery window ended 30 minutes ago. I'm just checking to see if you're still coming, so I know if I should keep waiting at my house for you" I'd ask. They'd claim to try to contact the driver, but never managed to do so. The worst shipping experience of my life. Awful service.
Greg T Recently my daughter bought a new samsung 46a550 and told me if I was going to buy one, this would be the way to go. After reading all I could, shopping around, and comparing specs and prices I decided to do the same. But I also liked the 630, for all the reasons stated on this site. I was patient, and finally visited a local dealer in the Portland area and found that the price I could get on the 630 was about the same as the 550. So I pulled the trigger quickly and will receive the set in about a week. I'm going to come back here and update this posting, to see if I would continue to support this product, or not. But frankly, I believe I got the best set (630) for the best price I could find. And, that make me very happy.
High quality LCD TV The 46" Samsung LN46A630 meets all of our expectations with a clear picture, plenty of input options, and a stylish design. It has 3 modes to adjust brightness based on room lighting, fast 4ms response time, and little glare on the matte screen. It is also Energy Star compliant. We did a lot of research, but chose this model over similar Sony and Toshiba TVs because of the higher contrast ratio and the ability to update its firmware using USB. Compared to the other brands, we found it was an excellent value for the price ($1299).

Fantastic TV - Fantastic Purchase!!! I had decided on the 650 model based on excellent BuZZ from Customer Shopping , highest Consumer Reports rating, and very good CNET Editor's review. The room I am putting the TV in is quite bright and, like others, I had concerns about the 650 model's shiny screen. Then I read about the 630 model - - basically the same TV with a "semi-matte" screen that reduces glare and reflections. So, I went with the 630 model and am thrilled with the entire purchase through Amazon. The 630 model was about $100 bucks cheaper than the 650 model ($1799 vs $1899), and it was delivered to my door by Pilot 4 DAYS after I ordered it on Amazon. Pilot did a great job, arrived within the designated time frame and brought this 52 inch beauty into the room where I am putting the TV. The unpacking and set-up was a snap - - the box comes apart easily by removing the two clips at the bottom of the box. I plugged in the TV and hooked up the HDMI cable from my Hi-Def cable box. Simple set-up. Then, the fun began. First, the TV itself looks great. The glass frame around the screen is sharp looking (though I didn't really notice the red TOC coloring on this model). The swivel stand looks sharp and works really well. The picture on the A630 is simply incredible. I broke in the TV by watching a college bowl game on ESPN HD and the colors, brightness and clarity were very much like being at the game. I have an older Samsung DLP TV in the Family Room, and this picture is a notch better. And, I noticed zero reflection on the TV in the bright room (my original fear about the A650). The sound is solid if not spectacular. There are tons of adjustments that can be made to the picture and sound, but I went with the standard settings (will play with the adjustments later). I am looking forward to trying a few Blu-ray's on the TV in the future (on my PS3), and expect them to be incredible. I will update this review once I take the television's 1080p resolution for a ride. All I can say is this may be the best electronics purchase of my life in terms of price, the purchase experience, and the product itself. Amazon and Samsung really came through!
Satisfied Great picture. Touch of color in bezel only apparent when in direct sunlight (cherrywood color), otherwise appears black. Matte screen does well in bright light. Picture still visible even when sunlight hits the screen.

Wonderful LCD TV The TV is awesome. Color, contrast, overall picture quality, sound, etc.. are premium. DLNA capability is a little bit tricky; however, once setup and functioning, it is great. The white glove delivery was not quite so white glove...but I can overlook it (they brought it upstairs plugged the power in to turn it on and told me I needed to sign the paper so they can leave...I was disappointed b/c they would not wait the 1 minute for me to plug in an hdmi cable and actually verify a picture on the screen).
Stunning Picture In My Home! I have had this TV for 1 week now, so this is not a long-term review, but I wanted to discuss my experience with some of the issues other reviewers have identified. Before I bought this 750 I visited several electronics brick and mortar stores and thought the picture quality on this 750 was as good as the Pioneer Kuro Plasma. (I am sure experts can show how I am incorrect here but the picture qualitatively looked just as good to me!) When I got mine delivered (see delivery review at the bottom!) the picture quality was just as good as in the showroom. I am not a calibrator and tweaking TV owner. I want something that works great right out of the box and the 750's picture quality is fantastic without out adjustment. The blacks are deep, off-axis viewing is great and I have only seen some small blurring and flickering issues playing Blue Ray movies that I think a owner who fine-tunes and calibrates the settings would probably eliminate. The red TOC design is not distracting at all but it is red and you do see it - it could look bad in a room with non-red colors. I have had no issues with the halo effect many have discussed so far and I have the TV on a standard height TV cabinet in a normal room. This hasn't effected me yet. Reflections in my "normal" room also seem to be no problem. The DLNA networking capability to access your PC media through the TV is nice but I get the same functionality with my Playstation 3 and it is a blue ray player as well and it works wirelessly out of the box. The 750 requires you buy an optional attachment to join your home's wireless network. So if DLNA is the only reason you buy this TV you may want a cheaper model and a PS3 so you can play games, watch blue ray movies and access your PC wirelessly with no additional purchases required. The PIP observation of not having a second tuner, thus limiting you to watching the tuner content in the sub-window while the main picture is a blue ray, VCR, DVD or game console input, has not been an issue to me. The manual describes this as a way to watch a tuner picture while you do someething else (or vice versa); it is not to watch two channels simultaneously. This has not impacted my experience at all. The bottom line reason to buy this TV is it has a fantastic picture and it really delivers. I bought my TV from Amazon and it was delivered by "Pilot" shipping. The TV came early, the box was in super condition and the Pilot delivery people were superb, bringing the TV into my basement, checking it out, cleaning it and hauling away the trash. The delivery service (which was my biggest worry in my first $1000+ internet purchase) was the best I have ever had! Great job Amazon.
LN46A750 review After much research decided on this model Amazing picture! Good sound (we don't have a home theater-yet) Didn't realize what we were missing. Like having lasik without the cost. Extra features are nice.(The story reading is definitely for under 5 & Artwork show is great) The delivery was extremely professional. Brought it into our home, unpacked, programmed remote & ensured cable worked. Told us to hold onto the box for a few weeks just in case. It's been a little over a month - no problems. Talked parents into purchasing one for themselves.

Samsung LN52A850 Possibly the best quality 52" LCD flat screen on the market for the price. Delivery was fast and courteous. Out of box setup was easy with plug and play. Using Direct/TV with the HD channels, the picutre quality is superior, and with Blueray, it is crystal clear. If you don't want to go to the theater, this is the next best thing. Coming from a 50" Samsung DLP to this has been a lot of fun.
I love it! The 850 is my second Samsung HDTV, and I'm really glad I chose it over something from the XBR range. The colors are incredibly vibrant and the 120Hz refresh rate really does make a difference. I played around with the refresh settings to see if there was any noticeable video noise when it was set to maximum. Despite hearing that this was a problem, I didn't notice any noise at all. Playing Blu-ray discs produces almost unbelievably clear images. I put The Fifth Element on and it really did look like a whole different film than what I remembered. PS3 games look really great too. The built-in speakers are not as bad as some people are making them out to be, but they could be better. Playing around with the equalizer helps tremendously. I sourced my sound through a home theater system and I suspect most people who buy the 850 will be doing the same, so this complaint is probably minor. It's a fantastic set and a good value for the performance.
Clear vision HDTV which makes you see RED Samsung LN52A850 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color This has to be one of the best buys of the season. The TV is HUGE and so thin for something so big. The screen is clear beyond imagination, especially watching HD channels on cable is a joy. The 120Hz refresh rate means that there is NO blurring with rapidly moving scenes, such as during football games, or watching the BBC's 'Planet Earth' large animal movement scenes. The surround has a touch of RED to it, which is not significant to affect your decor, but is just about visible when the sun is shining on the TV Downsides - well, the chimes it makes on start up and shut down, and the fact that the IR gets confused when the morning sun strikes the TV frames and renders the remote useless. However, even in bright sun, this TV shines and the image remains clear and bright.

Excellent all around The TV arrived safely and was unpacked and set up by the delivery person. It was all handled very well and we are very pleased.
busy mom My husband and I are so pleased with this purchase. Shipping was guick at the holidays, less than a week. Price fantastic, we researched for a long time. Picture and quality is great. In HD we were watching Pirates of the Carribean and it felt like I was on the boat, the picture was beautiful. No regrets. Easy to set up. Remote very user friendly. Basically plug and play, yet still don't know all of its capabilities.
A keeper! Watching sports is awesome. And my cable box isn't even up to 1080p, it's only 1080i right now. So,the picture could be even better? Cool. The Non-HD channels are not super, but I think that's what happens with all TVs. I played a DVD that I've seen a million times and suddenly I was thinking, "What's that behind Indy? I've never noticed that before!" Cool.

GREAT TV! VERY HAPPY! I purchased this TV from a local H.H.Gregg, but I got them to match the price when Amazon had it at $1,899.00! This was cheaper than the lower 650 series Samsung and it comes with extra content and, in my opinion is more astheticly pleasing with a wider glass bezel rather than the "rounded" plastic corners of the 650. It also has VERY subtle DARK red around the outside that is barely noticeable. CNET and others complained of the red, but I can barely see it, even when looking for it. Others also complained of the extended bezel corners caused an annoying reflection/glare by reflecting the light from the screen in the corners and causing some distraction, I have also looked for this and did so on the store model as well and have not noticed ANY distracting light or reflections. I have heard that there are different screens and coatings that may have been used that could contribute to this affect. My TV says SQ01 as a version number which may tell those concerned some info about my specific model. The complaints about the extra content are valid as it truly does feel "tacked on", however it is a nice feature that can be used to add ambient background during parties and to show off your TV at the same time, as the pictures that come with it are stunningly gorgeous. The fact that I got this TV cheaper than the 650 Series that did not come with this content (i.e. cooking recipes, wallpaper type pics, children's games, etc.) is really the only reason I can justify getting it. I have also found the complaints about the remote "wheel" (like a cheap version of the iPod navigation wheel) to be true for the most part, as it IS NOT very responsive...BUT I very rarely notice b/c you can just click the bottom, top and left/right portions to have it act as arrows would, which IS VERY responsive. I find myself not even utilizing or missing the wheel feature. I have set each input for the various accessories I have, being Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. The PS3 input is set for dark room Blu-ray viewing per CNET's recommended settings. It IS BEAUTIFUL! I recently viewed my friend's 50" Sony DLP, watching Casino Royal "on below DVD downloaded quality granted" but noticed that the blacks were DARKER on HIS, but with the overall better picture quality and brighter picture I am still EXTREMELY pleased with this TV! Very little color adjustment is needed out of the box, I just left mine alone and set it on WARM 2! The "Game" mode for the 360 and PS3 when playing games is great!. The "Sports" mode is very accessible through the E.Mode button via the remote allowing a quick change from the dark room film settings for my cable box! I would only recommend (as many others have said) the 120Hz being turned on for SPORTS ONLY, unless you want to see cheap background sets and props in Blu-rays and DVDs! I noticed many of these in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Strangers, and The Dark Knight when playing with the 120Hz settings. Overall great TV and got a great deal thanks to Amazon's pricing and H.H. Gregg's price matching policy! Love this TV it is great mounted on my wall in my bedroom!

Great TV I bought this TV around Oct this year. Everything looks great! Had to upgrade my old Dell 32" LCD. Shopped around for a while. Did the whole LCD versus plasma thing. I chose the Samsung LCD because the of the price, otherwise I was looking at the Pioneer Kuro. The "Halo" doesn't bother me one bit. I do have it, but only noticed it after I read a few reviews. I'm too busy watching the screen to notice. Watching Blu-ray / HD-DVD (yes I do have one) or my DVD looks awesome on this. Make sure you have the 120Hz Auto thing turned on while you use your up-converting player. My ONLY qualm with this unit is the bezel. I bought the 750 because I liked how the bezel added a "touch of class." The only problem with it is that because it's "piano black," when the unit is off I can see that the panel is not flat. There are little "dimples" or imperfections in the glass. I'm used to looking at the body lines of cars so I see those flaws in almost everything I look at. Doesn't affect the picture quality to me, so "oh well."

52" of HD goodness..... This was my first Amazon purchase over $200, and I couldn't be more satisfied. I researched for several months like many others, to learn as much as I could about the current specs and to see all the different models in person. I haven't owned a new tv since the 19" back in high school a decade ago (roommates won out), so I wanted something that would handle movies/computing/gaming for some time to come. I also knew that my father, who was shopping for his first HDTV, would more than likely go with my decision as well. We picked his up Christmas Eve from Best Buy, along with the 32" Whalen corner stand. Unpacking and setup was easy enough, you simply pull out the two plastic retainers and the box lifts off. Cable coax directly from the wall, or hdmi from the cable box both have a great picture, no issues with cable box compatibility with Time Warner. I ordered mine from Amazon on Dec. 26, and Pilot delivered it in a pickup truck on Dec. 31st, just in time to watch the Huskers beat Clemson the next day. Pilot probably did a better job than if I would have bought it from a retailer, as the box wasn't bent or gouged anywhere. I also didn't see any dead pixels or any other flaws in either of the 650's we bought this Christmas. For a stand I chose the Whalen BBL44BP from Best Buy, since Amazon didn't carry it, which is a 44" wide base with chrome reclining legs and black tempered glass. The picture is incredible, and the tv itself is well made and looks great. It's not facing any windows in my house, so the glare is a non-issue. It did take me a little while to realize there are no buttons on the tv, instead in the lower right hand corner there is a touch sensitive pad for power/volume/channels. It will leave fingerprints using them, but they work fine. Hooking up to the xbox360 via the component cables will give 1080p output, contrary to some of the rumors that you absolutely have to have the xbox hdmi cable to get above 1080i. I have the optical audio from both the tv and the xbox running to a Yamaha receiver. Connecting to the computer via a standard VGA cable works great, and is perfectly readable from 8ft back at 1360x768 (slightly wider resolution than a standard widescreen monitor, which I normally ran at 1280x768 or 1440x900). The backlight and brightness settings were a little brighter than they needed to be across the board, so after some minor changes everything looks great. The built in speakers are small, and sound as generic as I expected. They work fine for normal low to mid volume purposes, but lack the bass and midrange for movies or games. Not a big deal to me, so I normally turn them off or all the way down to let the receiver do the work. Other tv functions include the ability to connect directly to a LAN for software upgrades, InfoLink news and weather, which is kind of nice, but a little redundant as it's already hooked to a computer. Same with the Wiselink USB port, which lets you plug in any usb music or picture storage device and browse through pictures or play mp3's. I also haven't spent much time with the Automotion settings, or had anything that would output at 120hz to justify that aspect of the 650 over the 550. It did seem to help the clarity during standard dvd playback, when the background and foreground were moving at different speeds. Otherwise, I assume it's something that will be taken advantage of more in the future, or with a bluray player to eliminate the 3:2 pulldown inherent in 24fps film. I compared this tv with several Sony's, and the LG70, before deciding on Samsung. The 750 series' extra software, and the 850's slimmer profile weren't worth the extra money, in my opinion. Assuming that I don't run into any unforeseen repairs, this seems to be an outstanding tv that I look forward to keeping for quite a while.
TV is a 5; delivery is a 1 Excellent set, works beautifully and as expected. The two-man "white glove" delivery from Pilot was a one-man "dirty shoe" delivery, however. The lone delivery man showed up 15 minutes before the scheduled "noon to four" delivery and did not call ahead 30 minutes in advance, saying that he was "in the area anyway" as an excuse. Luckily, I was ready for him. He smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and left dirty footprints on my carpet that I will have to clean, and I need to air out the house in winter to get rid of the smell. While I respect that he was willing to take the TV to our upstairs theater room on his own, I decided to help him carry it up so that the TV wouldn't be damaged on the way, or that he'd give up and I'd have a half-delivered TV on my stairs. Pilot really needs to send two people to fulfill the "Amazon room of choice two man delivery" as listed on the work order. TV gets a 5; delivery gets a 1. Amazon needs a new freight company that takes customer service seriously and respects the cleanliness of customer homes.
